Position Overview This position is for a Compensation Analyst at either the Experienced Level (Compensation Analyst 3) or Advanced Level (Compensation Analyst 4). The analyst will provide comprehensive analytical support for compensation services, classification, HR systems, union wage implementations, campus policies, and training.

Location: Student Affairs & Admin Services – 3101, UCSB Campus (Hybrid).

Key Responsibilities

Resolve complex compensation issues and provide policy guidance.

Conduct market and data analysis for pay equity and wage increases.

Manage high‑volume casework and develop solutions for HR/compensation challenges.

Lead projects or initiatives related to compensation, classification, and HR programs.

Assist in designing and delivering compensation and classification training.

Participate in collective bargaining, policy changes, and ad‑hoc reporting.

Qualifications

Compensation Analyst 3 (Experienced Level):

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent.

4‑6 years of HR experience.

1‑3 years of progressive analytical experience in policy analysis, training, advising, and data analysis.

Compensation Analyst 4 (Advanced Level):

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent.

4‑6 years of progressive analytical experience in policy analysis, training, advising, data gathering, and leading projects/programs.

4‑6 years of background in HR and/or compensation and classification.

Skills

Strong understanding of compensation concepts, labor laws, and HR policies.

Effective problem‑solving and program development.

Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite (especially Excel and Google Sheets).

Advanced data analysis skills, including database queries and advanced spreadsheets.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to work independently and prioritize high‑volume casework.
