In support of Christopher Newport University’s mission, the mission of CNU Dining Services is to provide CNU students with the highest quality in food and dining experiences. We are committed to providing fast and customer-friendly services and to provide clean and positive atmospheres throughout the Dining Services operations. Purpose of the Position:
This position prepares front of the house operation necessary for the efficient and timely service of meals to residential students and guests. It assigns and monitors jobs/activities of subordinate personnel and ensures presentation of dining room. During special events/picnics, this position will coordinate all front of the house needs in accordance with quality assurance guidelines and sanitation for customer needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
Ability to communicate in writing or verbally to both supervisors and subordinates.
Basic math skills.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to monitor multiple tasks concurrently.
Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience:
Experience in the food service industry
Supervisory experience
Additional Consideration(s):
Education:
ServSafe Certified
Experience as a restaurant or dining room host/hostess
Experience leading or guiding tour groups
Experience decorating for special events or catering
Experience with financial transactions and/or point of sale systems
Experience preparing dining rooms for meal service with a strong focus on sanitation and presentation

Experience working in a college or university dining environment
Salary Information Starting at $34,277 Commensurate with Education and Experience
