Direct Line is a high growth global technology services company focused on design, integration, installation, maintenance and managed services for data center operators and technology companies. The Project Manager (PM) will be a lead member of the operations team and will drive the delivery of network infrastructure and cabling projects at a site. This role requires development, management, customer engagement, operational and leadership skills. The PM is responsible for the entire successful execution of a project, including planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting activities, and may participate in conceptual development and oversight of scheduling, estimating, and implementation. What You’ll Do
Be accountable for effective project management and delivery of projects. Develop the program schedule with the extended site team and establish milestones, ensuring financial and schedule targets align with customer goals. Identify and acquire resources as needed and revise as required to meet changing needs. During pre-construction, evaluate proposed materials for constructability and feasibility. Oversee and, at times, prepare cost estimates; initiate and coordinate design efforts and value engineering. Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time to meet deadlines. Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites. Facilitate travel for technicians to project sites. Coordinate with the superintendent. Inspect and review projects for compliance with codes and regulations. Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions with designers, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. Obtain necessary permits and licenses. Direct and supervise team members on site and in the office. Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction means and methods. Solicit, negotiate, select, contract, and oversee material suppliers and subcontractors. Requisition supplies and materials to complete projects. Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress/cost tracking reports. Develop and implement quality control programs. Manage delays, weather events, or emergencies at the construction site. Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and designers to resolve issues. Plan, organize, and direct activities related to construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Investigate damage, accidents, or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed. Evaluate construction means and methods for cost-effectiveness. Manage contract changes and communicate the process. Develop and maintain the project schedule and financial plan. Prepare, maintain, and complete all aspects of the project management playbook. Complete weekly and monthly reporting and projections. Train and develop the project team. Manage invoicing and equipment/material purchasing. Review job cost postings for accuracy and completeness, including invoicing, customer collections, and financial reporting. Oversee safety, environment, quality assurance programs, and material logistics. Recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline and discharge project staff as needed. Manage HR issues per company policies. Coordinate with internal and external partners and proactively communicate program status and risks to stakeholders. Prepare corrective actions as needed. Act as the company liaison to the client to maintain high client satisfaction. What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business management, electrical engineering, construction management or equivalent experience. 10+ years of direct experience in construction management, data centers, or structured cabling environments. Track record of delivering mission-critical programs on time, within budget, and to build, quality, and safety standards. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; contract negotiation and administration experience. Experience building and leading teams; coaching and mentoring direct reports and vendor teams; strong organizational, time management and cross-discipline coordination skills. Client engagement experience in similar programs. Understanding of program management fundamentals (earned value management, SPI, CPI, and other metrics). Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification preferred. BICSI RCDD or similar telecommunications certifications preferred. Equal Employment Opportunity
