Assistant Project Manager - Data Center
CBRE is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for data center network infrastructure and cabling projects across multiple Texas locations: Dallas, Grand Prairie, Waxahachie.
About the Role Direct Line ("DL") is a high‑growth global technology services company focused on design, integration, installation, maintenance, and managed services for data center operators. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will be a member of the operations team and will help deliver network infrastructure and cabling projects at specific sites.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the program schedule, ensuring schedule, cost, functionality, quality, safety and customer satisfaction targets are met.
Consult with clients, deliver presentations, resolve project issues, and recommend new services or enhancements.
Estimate project costs, write proposals, and manage project budgets.
Coordinate labor requirements, dispatch workers, and facilitate travel for technicians.
Obtain permits and licenses, prepare contracts, and negotiate revisions.
Inspect projects for compliance with codes, regulations, and quality standards.
Develop and maintain quality control programs and manage project safety & environment programs.
Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
Train and develop project teams and manage invoicing for client billing.
Act as primary liaison to the client, ensuring high satisfaction and clear communication of program status and risks.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business management, electrical engineering, construction management, or related field.
1–3+ years of direct experience in construction management, data centers, or structured cabling environments.
Proven track record of delivering mission‑critical programs on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experience with contract negotiation and administration.
Experience building and leading teams, mentoring direct reports and vendor teams.
Strong organizational, time‑management, and coordination skills across multiple disciplines.
Client engagement experience in similar programs.
Understanding of program management fundamentals such as earned value management, SPI, CPI, and project metrics.
PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
BICSI RCDD or similar telecom certification preferred.
