Full‑time Surgical Physician Assistant – Putnam Hospital Center
Putnam Hospital Center (PHC), in Carmel, New York, is a 165‑bed community hospital with a staff of more than 300 physicians. PHC offers medical, surgical, psychiatric, oncology, pediatric, orthopedic, obstetrical/gynecological and intensive care services, 24‑hour emergency care, and home health. The hospital is part of Nuvance Health, which serves 1.5 million residents across New York and Connecticut.
Responsibilities
Provide OR coverage with primary focus on OR first assistance.
Perform first assisting for a range of specialties including general surgery, urology, breast, plastics and orthopedics.
Cover day shifts and provide on‑call night coverage; one on‑call weekend per month for OR emergencies.
Participate in future service growth including floor rounding, consults, and admissions.
Collaborate within PHC Surgical PA Services and Vassar Brothers Surgical PA Services for limited cross‑coverage.
Manage postoperative care and discharge of patients.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; NCCPA certified.
Strong surgical and patient management experience required.
Preference for candidates with 1‑3 years surgical experience or surgical residency training; new graduates, nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience also considered.
Compensation & Benefits Highly competitive hourly wage ranging from $50.00 to $76.00, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Generous allowances for continuing medical education (CME) and professional dues/expenses are offered.
Working Conditions
Manual: significant manual skills, motor coordination and finger dexterity.
Occupational: some occupational risk.
Physical effort: medium to heavy effort, may exert up to 35 lbs. force.
Environment: exposure to dirt, odors, noise and human waste.
