Earth Sciences Non‑Tenure Track Faculty (Applicant Pool) Position at Montana State University – Office of Student Engagement.

Classification Title: Instructor

Working Title: Earth Sciences Non‑Tenure Track Faculty (Applicant Pool)

Appointment Type: Non‑Tenure Track (Pooled) – Contract Term Semester (Fall or Spring). Part‑time, duration varies. Salary depends on workload units.

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of Geography and Geology courses such as GIS, igneous petrology, histology, special topics, and other Earth Sciences curriculum courses.

Provide office hours for students in courses taught on a weekly basis throughout the semester.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to support academic success.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a relevant field with academic background commensurate with teaching one or more of the specialty areas.

Demonstrated experience collaborating successfully with faculty, staff, and students.

Evidence of working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

Terminal Degree in appropriate field.

Previous teaching experience.

Commitment to student diversity.

Successful Candidate Will

Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrate the ability to relate to and establish rapport with a college student population.

Exercise good judgment and self‑motivation.

Maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Have strong interest in student success.

Union Consideration

Positions .5 FTE or more are represented by Associated Faculty of Montana State University.

Positions less than .5 FTE are not represented by the Union.
