JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE:

Director Supply Chain Management

Reports to:

CEO

Supervises:

Materials and Stockroom

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Procurement plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of an organization’s supply chain and procurement processes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/ SCOPE

Interfaces:

Company Management, purchasing, manufacturing personnel, vendors, suppliers and customers, as required.

People Managed:

Materials and Stockroom departments

Decisions:

In coordination with departments and business needs, strategizes for optimum operations and effective materials and inventory management.

Impact of Error:

Deliverability of products and services, quality of product outcome and customer relationships.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS

Part of the director of procurement job description includes leading the procurement team in developing and implementing procurement strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.

Required Skill Sets:

Excellent analytical abilities

Proficiency in procurement software and tools

Deep understanding of supply chain management principles

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of contract law and vendor management

Data analysis and forecasting for optimizing stock levels

Desired Skill Sets:

Experience in procurement within Manufacturing in electronics and defense industry.

Leadership and team management skills

Advanced degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management

Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM)

Familiarity with international procurement regulations and practices

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and operational efficiency.

Identify and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers based on quality, price, and reliability.

Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Oversee the procurement process, including requisition, sourcing, purchasing, and delivery.

Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and requirements.

Stay abreast of market trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement.

Lead and mentor the procurement team, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.

Implement problem solving strategies for management of vendor inventory

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

Bachelors in supply chain, logistics or business. Minimum 10 years’ experience in supply chain / logistics roles within manufacturing, to include progressive roles of leadership 5 years minimum. Experience in managing large operations, as well as experience in government supply orders.
