As an accounting analysis manager in the Controllership Organization, you will contribute to Starbucks’ success through performing and overseeing accounting functions, analyses, consolidations and financial reporting to support high-impact accounting teams. This individual contributor will support month-end and quarter-end accounting close activities, develop reporting and analyses to maintain the accuracy of the financial statements, implement and document new and current accounting processes, provide accounting guidance to support business & investment initiatives, prepare deliverables to support SEC filings, and provide coaching to team members to achieve business results. You will collaborate with teams across Starbucks to support new initiatives, entity restructuring work, and other technical accounting projects, as well as prepare and review quarterly financial reporting deliverables for respective areas. Responsibilities
Provide accounting support for new business initiatives – partner with strategic cross-functional teams to make recommendations on complex topics and operationalize accounting for enterprise-level, high-visibility initiatives. Oversee complex areas of accounting – manage accounting processes and provide coaching to others for technical topics. Innovate and collaborate for continuous process improvement - recommend and lead others in the implementation of ideas and innovations to improve month-end and quarter-end financial close and reporting. Be a leader among peers - train, coach, and mentor less experienced accountants, advise peers in areas of technical expertise, and facilitate collaboration among cross-functional finance and business partners. Effectively influence to support and implement organizational priorities and initiatives Work collaboratively across multiple teams within the organization to communicate accounting guidance Effectively lead cross functional projects in a fast paced, dynamic environment Perform accounting research and advise on accounting and financial impacts of new or proposed transactions, quantify opportunities and risks, and recommend solutions Enjoy working on an energetic, fun team and have a clear ability to drive the business forward as part of a highly collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred 5+ years relevant experience, including experience at a multi-national company Performing complex accounting activities in a high growth environment at a large, multi-national, public company Developing, interpreting, and implementing accounting policies and processes, while ensuring strong internal control environment Applying US GAAP to complex business transactions Ability to assess business processes and implement improvements and controls Ability to deal well with ambiguity and work independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate accounting results to both accounting and non-accounting customers at various levels of the organization Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively, while exhibiting exceptional attention to detail and continuously driving process and controls improvements Ability to build relationships and influence others to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities Experience with ERP systems, business intelligence and reporting tools (Oracle, Anaplan, Hyperion, Blackline) preferred Experience with automation tools (for example, Alteryx) preferred Experience with consolidations and eliminations, intercompany transactions, foreign exchange accounting, and statutory reporting a plus.
