Position Details Classification Title: Instructor | Working Title: Culinary Arts Chef Manager Non-Tenure Track Faculty – Gallatin College (Applicant Pool).
Gallatin College seeks a part-time chef manager for the Culinary Arts program. The position is a non-tenure track faculty appointment, full-time equivalent (FTE) dependent on workload units. Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. Contract type: LOA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Estimate food production and purchase food
Select and develop recipes to work with lesson plans and ensure quality
Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and safety and sanitation in the kitchen
Maintain inventory system for food and supplies
Supervise food storage, production and course needs
Plan menus, purchase food and supplies, and assign duties for special meals or events
Provide orientation and job-specific training to employees and students
Provide instruction to students on general kitchen management including the functions listed above
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
For all Workforce programs: occupational experience in the field is required.
Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Culinary School Degree
American Culinary Federation Certification
Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity

Possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Program Overview The Culinary Arts program is an Associate of Applied Science degree focused on traditional culinary arts coursework and unique offerings such as farm-to-table, local agriculture, sustainability, and value-added techniques, all with a local Montana emphasis. The AAS in Culinary Arts is a 60-credit offering with summer session opportunities at MSU’s Towne’s Harvest field work and/or an internship.
