Payroll Specialist We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Payroll Specialist
to join our rapidly growing healthcare organization. In this role, you will manage
weekly, multi-state payroll operations
across multiple EINs.
This position requires strong technical payroll expertise, a deep understanding of
multi-state and local tax regulations , and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and experienced in healthcare payroll compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll across multiple EINs and entities in various states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
Manage payroll operations in OnePoint HCM, including data entry, reconciliations, reporting, and configuration of earnings, deductions, and tax codes.
Interpret and apply multi-state and local tax regulations, ensuring accurate withholding, reporting, and payment of all applicable taxes.
Partner with OnePoint implementation teams to establish new tax jurisdictions and maintain compliance as the organization expands.
Oversee and audit timesheets, overtime, PTO, and commission data to ensure payroll integrity.
Handle monthly reimbursements and expense payouts.
Administer wage garnishments, adjustments, and bonuses.
Manage employment verifications and respond to payroll-related inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
Collaborate with HR on new hire pay setup, compensation updates, and worker classification accuracy.
Coordinate with the workers’ compensation broker on new classifications, reporting, and code setup.
Prepare and analyze ad-hoc payroll, tax, and labor cost reports for Finance and HR leadership.
Participate in annual audits, providing documentation and analysis as needed.
Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, payroll regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications
4+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a healthcare or Management Services Organization (MSO) environment.
Proven experience managing multi-state payrolls across multiple EINs and varying payroll schedules.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations, including withholding, unemployment, and jurisdictional setup.
Hands‑on experience with OnePoint HCM or similar HRIS/payroll systems.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data reconciliation/reporting tools.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with HR, Finance, and external partners.
Strong analytical thinking with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Pay Range: $55,000-$60,000 annually
The starting rate within this range for this role varies depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
