Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing

Status: Full-Time

Salary Range: $64,200.00-$82,500.00 annually (experience-based compensation)

About Us The Hotel at the University of Maryland is a AAA 4-Diamond independent property located directly across from the University of Maryland’s main campus. With 297 guest rooms, including 24 suites, and over 45,000 sq. ft. of flexible event space, we host events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale conferences of up to 1,500 attendees. We take pride in delivering exceptional, personalized service.

Who We’re Looking For We’re seeking a driven, charismatic, and experienced Sales Manager to join our high-performing team. This role is ideal for a proactive sales professional with a strong network to pull from, exceptional closing skills, and a collaborative spirit. You’ll be a key player in building lasting relationships and driving revenue through strategic sales efforts.

Your Impact

Lead the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing

Travel as needed for trade shows, client meetings, and industry events

Negotiate group rates and hotel services within established guidelines

Draft and review contracts and rate agreements with precision

Collaborate with hotel departments to ensure seamless execution of client needs

Conduct site inspections, presentations, and special events for potential clients

Represent the hotel at networking events, trade shows, and industry functions

Maintain accurate records in our sales and catering system (Delphi/Amadeus)

Deliver monthly sales reports and forecasts

Respond promptly to guest inquiries and ensure exceptional service

Meet or exceed monthly sales targets

Support team initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment

What You Bring

3+ years of continuous hotel group sales experience (SMERF/Sports market a plus)

Proven B2B sales experience with transactions of $50K+

Strong prospecting skills and ability to engage meeting/event planners

High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred

Professional appearance and demeanor

Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills

Ability to work independently and thrive under pressure

Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Delphi/Amadeus

Availability during peak times, including occasional weekends, holidays, and special events

Additional Responsibilities

The hotel operates 24/7, requiring department schedules to adapt to varying business demands. Employees may need to work shifts outside their preferred or usual hours.

Employees must comply with all hotel-established work rules, procedures, and policies, including those outlined in the employee handbook.
