Staff Accountant (Property Management) – Hybrid DC

We are a small, agile property management company in the Washington, DC area seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to execute the financial transactions for our main operating company and a portfolio of over 200 residential rental properties. You will be the primary engine that keeps our financials running smoothly. Your daily execution of AP, AR, and reconciliations will directly contribute to accurate financial reporting, owner satisfaction, and timely cash flow management across our entire portfolio. You will report directly to the Accounting Manager, forming a vital part of our small, influential finance team. What You'll Be Doing:

Transaction Mastery:

Own the full Accounts Payable process, from invoice coding and entry to executing payment runs. Rent Cycle Management:

Accurately post tenant payments, manage Accounts Receivable aging, and coordinate delinquency communications. Accurate Records:

Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the integrity of the General Ledger. Support & Compliance:

Assist the Accounting Manager with month-end close activities, payroll documentation, and preparing schedules for our external tax accountants. What We're Looking For:

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in a transactional accounting role. Property management or real estate background is a significant advantage. Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Tech Stack:

Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or property management software (e.g., Buildium, Yardi). Mindset:

Highly organized, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Compensation & Benefits:

Salary:

Competitive compensation in the range of $65,000 - $75,000 (Commensurate with experience). Location:

REMOTE or Hybrid schedule in Washington, DC. Growth:
