We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join our Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team. As a key member of our Applied AI team, you'll have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, develop and apply cutting‑edge AI technologies, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive innovation and experimentation.
What you'll be doing:
Develop and apply current AI paradigms, including computer vision, deep learning, and reinforcement learning, to solve complex signal processing problems and field innovative solutions.
Engage in every phase of the system development lifecycle, including requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, integration, and flight test.
Take ownership of critical tasks and lead technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Participate in the development of proposals and whitepapers to secure funding for AI research and development projects.
Assume technical lead responsibilities and mentor junior engineers to help them develop their skills and expertise.
Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to develop and deploy AI solutions.
Communicate complex technical concepts and solutions to non‑technical stakeholders.

Who are you:
A strong background in software engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
A strong background in signal processing theory and application (radar, communication, electronic warfare, sonar, audio, or biomedical).
Experience with current AI paradigms, including computer vision, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
Self‑motivation, strong work ethic, and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, electrical engineering, or mathematics.
5+ years of experience in AI or a related field.
Basic Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Experience in languages: C++ or Python.
Experience in ML frameworks & libraries: JAX (preferred), or PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
Experience in Reinforcement Learning.
Desired Skills:
Software Architecture:
Experience interfacing with gov‑supplied sim & networks.
Comfortable working in simulation & gym environments.
Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Git (GitLab, GitHub), Continuous Integration [CI], Continuous Deployment [CD].
Knowledge of MLOps pipeline and modern machine learning techniques.
Research:
Research experience in Agentic AI, intelligent agent architecture, development, and integration.
Familiarity with computational neuroscience, psychology, specifically decision making and theory of mind.
Solid mathematical foundation: linear algebra, graph theory.
Game theory, control theory, optimization, information theory.
Experience in Offline Reinforcement Learning, and Multi‑Agent Reinforcement Learning.
General:
Experience using cloud‑computing resources for training.
Experience developing applications on Linux.
Familiarity with high‑performance computing.
Track record of being able to go deep on research topic, or published research papers.
The preferred work locations for this position are Lockheed Martin facilities in Moorestown, NJ, Valley Forge, PA, Littleton, CO, Fort Worth, TX, Liverpool, NY, Owego, NY, and Shelton, CT. Remote work arrangements may also be considered for qualified candidates.
Salary range for most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York: $125,100 - $216,890. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. This position is incentive plan eligible.
