Accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where state and federal laws/regulations allow. Ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Manage training, coaching, and performance of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer complaints, respond to requests in a timely manner, and answer non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Model and share customer service best practices. Assist pharmacist in patient care activities including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Conduct patient and physician calls under supervision and support healthcare service offerings including vaccines and health screenings where allowed by law. Drive pharmacy operations excellence by coordinating daily workflow, scheduling, inventory management, and ensuring a clean, stocked, and compliant pharmacy environment. Support recordkeeping and security safeguards in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager. Under pharmacist direction, comply with Good Faith Dispensing requirements during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities. Monitor asset protection and report any concerns that could compromise the security of the pharmacy. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and support Continuous Quality Improvement program. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including decisions on discipline and termination. Enforce constructive discipline policies and ensure compliance with state and federal laws. Hold technicians accountable for attendance, punctuality, and performance through engagement and action planning. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling. Ensure timely completion of required training and adherence to scheduling procedures. Identify gaps in operational knowledge and support team members through hands-on training or learning modules. Monitor licensure, registrations, and certifications to ensure active status and compliance. Use Walgreens resources to document licensure status. Ensure procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training comply with company policy and legal requirements. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification and other required certifications/registrations. Maintain and enhance knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare; pursue professional development and participate in performance improvement plans as directed. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from the support center or other key emails as required. Participate in store/pharmacy meetings and weekly check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on the last performance evaluation.
