About Your Role
Orion Pharma is making strategic investments in challenging R&D areas that drive breakthroughs, particularly in cancer therapies. We are enhancing our oncology research capabilities by establishing dedicated Target Discovery teams within each of our oncology research units: Immuno‑Oncology, Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC), and Cancer Genomics. This dedicated laboratory‑based position supports wet‑lab experiments and data generation in close collaboration with other members of the IO team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design and perform in vitro/ex vivo immune cell assays and treat with oncology drugs in conjunction with internal target discovery and validation teams.
Establish and validate human in vitro and ex vivo primary immune cell assays to define the mechanism of action of novel IO targets.
Coordinate with the line manager to ensure timely delivery of data and report any issues encountered or foreseen.
Oversee CRO and external partnered studies where needed.
Develop and implement novel primary immune cell assays to improve target confidence while balancing expectations.
Provide clear reports and presentations and participate in team meetings.
Collaborate closely with other scientists and technicians.
Qualifications
PhD in immunology, immuno oncology or related field with 3+ years of industry or academic research experience.
Broad knowledge in immuno oncology, cancer immunotherapy, and immune cell signaling (scientific publications or poster presentations).
Experience in identifying and validating novel IO targets.
Strong in vitro and ex vivo research experience using primary immune cells from cancer patient samples.
Ability to independently design, conduct, and interpret data from complex immune cell assays.
Proficiency in isolation of immune cells and processing samples for multi‑colour flow cytometry, multiplex ELISA, IHC, single‑cell RNA‑sequencing and gene expression analysis.
Competency in graph pad prism, flowjo, nSolver and standard office software.
Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
Flexibility and willingness to learn new techniques and take additional responsibilities.
Location & Employment Turku, Finland (full‑time, permanent, on‑site). Orion Pharma will support relocation to Finland.
