Position Overview The Department of Education seeks course instructors in the following specialty areas:
Teacher Education – Foundations (Curriculum Design, Assessment)
Teacher Education – Science Methods
Teacher Education – Social Studies Methods
Teacher Education – English Language Arts
Technology Education
Educational Leadership
Adult Education
Higher Education
Curriculum & Instruction
Library Media Certificate
General Statement Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non‑tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. Instructors are needed to teach classes depending upon need and available funding. Applications are accepted on a continual basis and will be maintained in pool for two years.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching on campus or online courses
Advising, evaluating and assisting students
Curriculum and/or course development
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Minimum master’s degree but terminal degree preferred in appropriate field with an academic background commensurate with teaching one or more of the specialty areas listed above.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Academic/professional experience.
Demonstrated experience teaching interdisciplinary courses.
Demonstrated knowledge of college student development.
Promote the advancement of diversity or demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
The Successful Candidate Will
Work professionally and effectively with diverse individuals.
Possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Montana State University.
Have an appreciation of diverse constituencies and add intellectual diversity to the department.
Union and Benefits The position may be a union position. Union affiliation is determined by job duties and the collective bargaining unit. Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues.
