Position
Unit Manager
— Brookline, MA
Job Duties The
Unit Manager
is responsible for the day-to-day coordination oversight of all aspects of the assigned clinical unit. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Ensure staffing levels are met for each shift to render care for the number of residents assigned.
Attend, participate and lead the weekly resident "At Risk" meeting to identify care and condition concerns, with appropriate interventions and follow-up.
Attend and participate in morning clinical review meetings.
Attend and participate in PPS meetings as indicated.
Attend and participate in monthly QA/QA meetings and assist with follow-up for identified problems.
Monitor provision of resident care by licensed nurses and CNAs; ensure required documentation is completed.
Review 24-hour resident change in condition reports daily; ensure follow-up includes interventions, physician/family notification and documentation.
Review resident medical records to ensure clinical programs align with policy and procedures.
Identify educational needs of staff; discuss findings with the Facility Educator and collaborate to meet these needs.
Participate on other committees as requested by the Administrator/Director of Nursing Services.
Ensure resident care and documentation comply with state and federal rules and HIPAA regulations; report violations as required.
Make work assignments for staff, including breaks and lunches; ensure compliance with assignments.
Initiate disciplinary action as necessary for staff members in collaboration with DON/ADON.
Communicate with department manager/DON and follow up on grievances/concerns from personnel, residents or families.
Ensure physician orders are followed.
Assist the DON/ADON with preparing performance evaluations; greet new admissions and assist with admission process as needed.
Within 24 to 48 hours, complete all admission documentation including clinical assessments and care plans.
Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure orders are followed.
Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
Report and assist with investigation of any resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
Assist Social Services with ensuring Advance Directives/Code Status are obtained and documented per policy.
Participate in annual or complaint surveys as directed and assist with plans of correction as required.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred and/or graduate of an approved RN program.
Active RN license in assigned state(s) of employment.
Previous supervisory experience.
Two years of LTC experience.
Acute Care experience preferred.
