Position Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise and provide superior customer service. Alterations Specialists are members of the store team and demonstrate the value and qualities of the David’s Bridal brand.

Responsibilities

Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, via virtual chats and in person; communicate clearly and concisely; adapt communication style to suit customers by problem solving; maintain excellent phone skills and resolve conflicts.

Use all systems to manage the customer flow to deliver a five-star customer experience.

Maintain service levels by being prepared, welcoming, meeting needs, and being available for all customers; complete operational checklist tasks and meet emotional and practical needs of customers.

Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time and contribute to the store’s Five-Star Customer Service achievement.

Proactively address customer concerns with confidence; know when to escalate and partner with the leadership team.

Communicate how alterations can improve the dress for events; promote alteration services and personalization options.

Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting with customers regarding gown fit and customization.

Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.

Maintain a high standard of dress that complies with the Dress Code Policy.

Greets and escorts all alterations customers to and from alterations appointments.

Inspect garments altered/steamed/pressed to verify pristine condition before final delivery to customer.

Respond promptly to customer questions by providing product and service information.

Build long-term relationships with customers to meet and exceed satisfaction and loyalty.

Maintain inventory management by processing special orders, pick-ups, and ensuring first-quality standards for all merchandise.

Ensure alteration pricing is at company standards.

Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments to company standards.

Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively according to company guidelines.

Support cash wrap behaviors and process transactions accurately to make every customer feel celebrated.

Maintain the alterations room in a clean and organized state.

Performs duties and tasks as assigned by store management.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools and objects; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend, twist and stand; move throughout the store; communicate with customers.

Manual dexterity to perform non-selling responsibilities (POS terminals, counting money, steaming garments, using computers and phones) and to sew and perform fittings to David’s Bridal standards.

Ability to lift/move up to 10 pounds.

Visual requirements include seeing up close and at a distance, with peripheral and depth perception; ability to read and use electronic devices and phones for long periods.

Education & Credentials

High school diploma or equivalent degree

1-2 years prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment

Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special occasion production

Prior experience with computerized POS (Point of Sale) system is a plus
