Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Support Engineer provides user support with various CADD application software and design capabilities, delivers CADD design problem solving services to users, and serves as the District CADD training coordinator. The incumbent will help evaluate CADD customized applications and hardware and recommend revisions or additions. Must be proficient in MicroStation and Civil 3D software. Position located at 2885 S. Higuera St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, San Luis Obispo County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. This is a Limited Term position which may be extended to 24 months or become permanent. Work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. In-office presence required; telework may be allowed part-time. Travel within the state for meetings, conferences, and training may be required. Overtime may be required during peak times. Rotation in the Caltrans Transportation Engineer (Civil) Rotation Program is a mandatory 24 to 33 month assignment for eligible engineers, with rotations typically 6 to 12 months each. Additional loan opportunities may exist based on workload needs. Minimum Requirements

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER (CIVIL) Salary ranges: $6,488.00 - $7,735.00 (A) Appointment may require a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) for Range D; for other ranges, a PE license is not required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle. SOQ is required. Please provide a 2-page or less SOQ detailing experience related to CADD duties, MicroStation and Civil 3D, and ability to train others; also discuss communication with other departments and internal/external partnerships.
