Research Administrator (Remote) – School of Public Health Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a skilled Research Administrator to support faculty, center directors, and staff throughout the sponsored project life cycle. This remote position requires expertise in grant proposal preparation, compliance, and financial management.

Position Summary Research Administrators play a vital role in ensuring that research projects meet sponsor guidelines and are successfully submitted and managed. The RA will manage a portfolio of faculty post‑award and payroll sourcing activities, support complex grant proposals, and coordinate post‑award activities with minimal supervision. The role may also involve managing grants for Research Centers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee day‑to‑day research administration and coordinate pre‑award activities for complex proposals, including program projects and agency applications.

Work with faculty to prepare budgets, gather information, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Act as liaison between faculty, Department Administrators, and external sponsors.

Submit all agency forms, obtain necessary signatures, and manage subaward set‑up through the SUBS system.

Track and maintain an online database of grant submissions, awards, rejections, and related reports.

Coordinate annual agency reporting and collaborate with the Post‑Award unit on budget revisions and fund transfers.

Support research compliance by providing necessary grant‑related information and maintaining protocol approvals.

Analyze grant data to produce metrics and funding trend reports.

Ensure timely completion of grant closeout activities and final reporting to agencies.

Manage post‑award budgets, payroll sourcing, purchase approvals, and subaward invoicing.

Maintain program and sub‑core financial reports, service billing, and compliance with institutional policies.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (substitution allowed).

At least four years of relevant experience, including two years in Grants Administration.

Knowledge of S2S SUBS system and agency guidelines.

Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Proficiency with grant software, Excel, Word, and Workday (or comparable systems).

Ability to manage complex, multi‑agency proposals and post‑award activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Certifications in grant administration or related fields.

Experience with complex research contracts and subaward management.

Knowledge of human and animal study protocol compliance.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment; work primarily at a desk.

Repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movements; occasional travel to on‑ or off‑campus locations.

Use of standard office equipment.

Salary $65,900.00 – $112,700.00 per year (Grade G13). Salary within the range will be determined by qualifications, performance, and market data.
