Primary Duties:

Assist with anesthesia induction setup, including monitoring equipment, disposable supplies, and medication preparation. Transport patients to and from induction rooms, surgical suites, diagnostic areas, and recovery locations. Deliver and manage anesthesia supplies across small and large animal hospitals, including controlled substances, diagnostic test materials, and monitoring equipment. Maintain clean and organized preparation and recovery areas following infection control, OSHA, EHS, and radiation safety standards. Perform equipment cleaning, inspection, troubleshooting, and documentation for anesthesia-specific equipment (ECG, blood pressure monitors, capnographs, ventilators, and gas analyzers). Lift and move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Direct Patient Care:

Assist with patient restraint, venipuncture, TPR, bladder expression, and positioning. Support anesthetists with monitoring using IV pumps, ECG, pulse oximeters, capnographs, and other diagnostic tools. Participate in CPR and life-saving procedures as needed. Work safely around sick animals, anesthetic gases, cleaning agents, and zoonotic diseases, following all hospital safety standards.

Departmental Coordination & Teaching:

Record and communicate patient and diagnostic data using hospital information systems. Support orientation, teaching, and mentoring of veterinary students, interns, residents, and new staff. Track and document infection control data and nosocomial testing within anesthesia areas. Provide professional, compassionate communication and customer service in all interactions. Collaborate effectively across teams to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent care.

If you are a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, teaching hospital and enjoys both animal care and teamwork, we encourage you to apply and be part of our dedicated Anesthesia Department.
