The Department of Marketing at Boise State University invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure track Assistant Professor of Marketing faculty position beginning August 2026. This role carries salary and promotion opportunities similar to a tenure‑track position, including advancement to associate and full professor ranks (without tenure). Faculty in this position teach a fixed 3‑3 course load, conduct peer‑reviewed research, and engage in departmental and college service. Faculty also have the potential for additional summer teaching opportunities or competitive summer research funding. Candidates must have earned a PhD or DBA in business or a related field to qualify.
Position Overview This position will carry the title of Clinical or Teaching Assistant Professor of Marketing (non‑tenure track). The College of Business and Economics makes the following distinctions between Clinical and Teaching faculty:
Clinical faculty provide a distinctive connection to practice, engaging industry and community partners to enrich the educational experience
Teaching faculty focus primarily on excellence in instruction and departmental/university service, without an explicit expectation of community engagement.
Clinical and Teaching faculty must meet the College of Business and Economics’ minimum research standards to remain AACSB qualified as Scholarly Academic (SA). Either appointment contributes to student success, curriculum innovation, and the scholarly community.
The successful candidate will provide evidence of or potential to:
support departmental initiatives that develop and grow academic programs
foster a collaborative, professional, and innovative environment with colleagues and students
help prepare students for the changing landscape of marketing, including advances in AI, digital strategies, and data‑driven decision making.
Teaching Responsibilities The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of or potential to:
teach a range of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in marketing and sales
employ active and experiential learning strategies, such as client projects, service learning, and technology‑enhanced instruction
mentor and provide meaningful feedback to students
contribute to course and curriculum design that aligns the marketing and sales programs with industry needs and current and emerging marketing trends.
Scholarly and Professional Activity Consistent with AACSB requirements, the successful candidate will demonstrate a record of or potential to:
produce scholarly intellectual contributions in peer‑reviewed journals sufficient to remain scholarly active as defined by AACSB
engage with professional associations and industry partners that enhance scholarship and classroom practice.
About the Department Boise State’s Department of Marketing currently offers Marketing Major (BBA) and Minor programs of study and a Certificate in Professional Sales. Students majoring in marketing may choose emphasis areas in Brand and Product Marketing or Marketing Communications. Marketing courses, on average, enroll 34 students per course. Approximately 105 students per year graduate with a Marketing Major.

Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate (PhD or DBA) in marketing or related discipline awarded by a university accredited by AACSB/EQUIS/AMBA or an equivalent governmental accreditation body on or before August 2026.
Demonstrated potential to remain scholarly active consistent with AACSB standards.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
A record of applied, pedagogical, or practice‑oriented scholarship (conference presentations, practitioner publications, instructional innovation).
Experience teaching a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Demonstrated use of experiential teaching methods.
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to a collaborative, professional, and innovative departmental culture.

Salary and Benefits The starting salary is $136,500, which is competitive with AACSB median salaries for public research institutions. The standard faculty contract is a 9‑month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. The contract is yearly and renewable unless noted that the position is temporary.
