Company Overview VerbiVis Ltd is searching for a
German Translator
to join our in‑house translation team. The selected candidate will start in
November or December 2025 (or ASAP)
and will translate, revise, and post‑edit EU‑related content. Since 1997, VerbiVis has partnered with prestigious clients including EU Institutions, multinational corporations, and international law firms, with offices in Europe and Hong Kong.
Role German Junior Translator
Initial 6‑month freelance contract with the possibility of extension.
Open to candidates based within the EU.
Approx. 35‑40 hours per week, invoiced monthly (independent contractor status).
Key Responsibilities
Translate documents primarily from
English into German , covering various EU areas (legal, political, technical, etc.).
Ensure terminology consistency and apply the EU interinstitutional drafting code to produce accurate, high‑quality translations.
Revise and proofread translations to meet the highest quality standards and comply with EU standards.
Contribute to the enrichment of translation memories, glossaries, and databases to support long‑term consistency.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth and timely delivery of translation projects.
Requirements
Education: A degree in
Translation
(BA or Master’s).
Languages:
Native‑level proficiency in German
and strong proficiency in English as the source language. Additional European source languages are a strong asset.
Experience:
Experience with CAT tools (especially
Trados ) is essential.
Knowledge of EU terminology and the EU interinstitutional drafting code is an asset.
Experience translating documents related to EU policies or institutions is preferred.
Previous internship or work experience within EU institutions is desirable but not essential.
Skills:
IT literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and CAT tools.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality work.
Good team player, accustomed to dealing with stressful situations.
Organized, self‑disciplined, and able to work independently and under tight deadlines.
Work style: Reliable, accountable, independent, professional, and collaborative, with an ability to adapt to an international team environment.
