Job Overview Seeking a detail‑oriented and relationship‑driven Project Estimator to prepare competitive bids and cost estimates for general and civil construction projects across commercial, retail, and site development sectors. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of estimating from plans and a strong network of project owners and developers in the DFW area.
What you’ll do
Review architectural, civil, and structural plans to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
Prepare detailed bid proposals, budgets, and value‑engineering options for general construction and civil/site projects.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure scope coverage and competitive pricing.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with project owners, developers, and subcontractors.
Lead pre‑bid meetings and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and specifications.
Track historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy and assist with forecasting future pricing trends.
Manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
Support business development by leveraging personal book of business to identify and secure new opportunities.
Utilize estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Excel for cost analysis and takeoffs.
Collaborate with leadership to strategize bid approaches and optimize profitability.
Basic Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in general construction estimating, with emphasis on civil/site work pricing.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and local Fort Worth/DFW market pricing.
Demonstrated history of relationships with local owners, developers, and key industry partners.
Proficient in estimating software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (but not required).
Qualifications
Proficiency in Bluebeam and Planswift software.
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
Familiarity with construction management principles and practices.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
