Mould Design Engineer

at Ciner Glass, you will contribute to the development and optimization of high-quality glass moulds for the industrial production of packaging glass. You will combine your technical design skills and creativity to collaborate with colleagues and suppliers to ensure innovative, efficient, and high-quality moulds. With attention to detail and a strong understanding of the production process, you will directly contribute to the quality of our glass products.

Responsibilities Ensuring a smooth production process.

Designing and developing new moulds, plungers, mould parts, and other tools for glass production, in collaboration with engineering and production.

Optimizing existing mould designs to improve product quality, shape consistency, and/or process efficiency.

Analyzing production challenges related to moulds (such as breakage, deformation, impurities, or shape defects) and offering technical solutions based on these issues.

Creating and managing 2D and 3D drawings (CAD) and technical documentation in accordance with internal and industry standards.

Advising production and maintenance teams on material selection, tolerances, finishing techniques, and machine settings.

Supporting trial productions and product introductions, including monitoring process parameters and interpreting results.

Contributing to the standardization of mould designs and production instructions to increase efficiency and ease of maintenance.

Mould Management and Supplier Coordination

Contact with external suppliers and mould manufacturers: defining specifications, overseeing production, conducting tests, and performing quality control.

Ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets for mould purchases or development.

Reporting on mould performance, breakdowns, and maintenance interventions to relevant internal stakeholders.

Keeping track of documentation and cost analysis related to mould use and lifespan.

Continuous Improvement and Projects

Translating process data, trends, and quality feedback into structural improvements in design and function.

Actively monitoring technological innovations in mould design, sustainable materials, production processes, and digitalization.

Contributing to improvement projects and cross-functional initiatives within engineering and production.

Meetings, Training & Safety

Regularly meeting with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality departments to align design choices with operational needs.

Training and providing technical support to colleagues on the correct use, maintenance, and inspection of moulds.

Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations in the mould design and production process.

Sharing best practices and technical updates with internal stakeholders through presentations or technical workshops.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Material Technology, or a related field.

Experience in technical design and/or engineering roles, preferably within the glass industry, packaging industry, or precision mechanics.

Knowledge of 3D CAD systems (CATIA and Photoshop).

Experience with tolerances, technical documentation, and standards (ISO, DIN, etc.).

Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Good communication skills in both Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Customer-oriented, innovative, and quality-conscious.

Ability to work independently and in a team within a dynamic production environment.
