Job Description The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College are here to assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available that complement the teaching process. Faculty members are committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. Although teaching is the most important role, faculty also serve learners through scholarly endeavors and service activities.
Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees focused on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students. Qualifications
A minimum of a master’s degree in the specific degree for the position or a Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field.
Minimum one‑year full‑time teaching experience or equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
Equivalent or applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge of pedagogy and teaching experience equivalent to two years.
Strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational, office, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn, ability to research and analyze data, work independently toward established goals and deadlines.
Commitment to working effectively with diverse students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or other conversational language abilities preferred.
Residency in the state of Colorado and all work duties performed within the state.
Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
Teach courses as assigned.
Prepare appropriate lesson plans and submit course outlines and syllabi to supervisor.
Assist with development of measurable course objectives and plans.
Develop a professional relationship with students and staff encouraging communication.
Maintain accurate course records of students and complete required course forms.
Be available for student consultation.
Assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
Assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance.
Represent the college professionally within communities.
Engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
Supervision & Working Conditions This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee. The role may supervise student employees. Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report is required. Duties include constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and use of a computer and standard office equipment daily.
