Senior Counsel – Sales & Customer Experience
Senior counsel for GEICO’s sales, insurance distribution, and customer service business units. Provide day‑to‑day legal advice and develop innovative ways to distribute insurance and deliver great customer experiences.
Base pay range:
$135,300.00/yr – $260,350.00/yr
Primary Responsibilities
Understand key business objectives for supported units and ensure compliance with applicable insurance regulations while driving business success.
Serve as lead attorney for assigned division(s) and anticipate future legal needs.
Collaborate with the contracts team to negotiate and draft commercial agreements.
Provide legal guidance related to sales, distribution, and servicing of insurance.
Coordinate support from other areas of the legal department.
Use broad legal knowledge to identify implications of business choices across privacy, compliance, consumer‑protection, IP and contractual obligations.
Basic Qualifications
At least 8 years of experience in law firm or in‑house practice, with at least 6 years in e‑commerce, regulated product sales, strategic partnerships, consumer‑protection laws, customer service/user experience, insurance sales/distribution, or insurance underwriting.
Law degree and active law license in the United States.
Strong listening, communication, and rapid business‑plan assimilation skills.
Ability to advise with incomplete information and manage legal and adjacent risks.
Solution‑oriented mindset and proven business‑problem‑solving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in B2B relationship management as a business partner.
Track record of working on novel and emerging legal issues.
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with internal clients and external partners.
Ability to identify opportunities for enhancements and implement creative solutions.
Experience supporting regulated product distribution through third parties.
Location:
Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite at Chevy Chase, MD, Cleveland, OH, or New York, NY. Remote work available as needed.
Annual Salary:
$135,300.00 – $260,350.00. Salary depends on experience, education, training and business considerations.
