The Senior Safety Risk Advisor will work within the Site Safety, Security, Health & Environmental Division in Fort Worth. This position will perform duties related to safety and health programs focused on workplace and process safety enhancement. Duties include conducting safety audits, managing incident investigations, safety program development, creating and modifying safety standards and work practices, and participating in risk assessments. The Senior Safety Risk Advisor will also ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards and participate in company and industry safety networks.
Position Responsibilities
Create new and modify existing site safety standards
Provide feedback to assist personnel in proper hazard assessment associated with work activities
Participate in incident investigations, safety, and regulatory audits as Subject Matter Expert
Communicate changes in work processes and hazard mitigation to line management
Participate in formal risk assessments
Review key safety systems and recommend corrective actions
Attend and actively participate in departmental and unit safety meetings
Provide technical leadership and promote best practice sharing on networks & work groups
Support effective identification, assessment, and prioritization of SSH&E risks
Support the tracking and completion of risk reduction activities in a timely manner
Position Requirements
A B. S. in Safety, Health, Environmental, or related field
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a safety professional in an industrial setting
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA safe work standards and industrial safety policies/procedures
Effective field intervention skills
Ability to effectively multitask and self-manage competing priorities
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective meeting facilitation, organizational & problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively work with spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis and communicate results via charts, tables, etc.
Proficient with standard software packages including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Experience in process safety as well as personnel safety
Field audit experience at a large manufacturing facility
Experience in formal incident investigations
Proficiency with database software packages including MS Access, SharePoint, SAP
Knowledge of business control practices
Knowledge of Refinery and Chemical Plant operations and processes
Working knowledge of:
Engineering Standards and Practices
Industry codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, etc)
