Job Summary

The General Manager is the leader responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the store, maximizing sales and profitability while ensuring optimal inventory, merchandising, and customer service. The role requires inspiring and developing the management team and store associates, upholding the core values and mission of the organization, and maintaining a high standard of store appearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive store sales by acknowledging all customers, meeting customer project needs, and resolving concerns quickly. Follow the Ace Helpful 101 S.A.L.E.S. process.
  • Control and oversee operating costs through proper training and effective payroll management.
  • Analyze business trends and develop plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures, completing paperwork promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through on‑hand integrity, daily receiving, and product flow.
  • Create an environment that deters theft and promotes loss prevention.
  • Ensure merchandise is stocked, presented, and displayed according to corporate guidelines.
  • Hire, train, and develop retail staff; provide performance feedback and recognition.
  • Conduct daily huddles and quarterly store meetings to share company initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable shopping experience, including back‑room organization.
  • Maintain regular, on‑time attendance and work a rotating schedule, including weekends.
  • Supervise up to 20 associates, handling hiring, training, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Communicate effectively with all store associates, supervisors, and support personnel.

Qualifications

  • Five to seven years of related management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including RF gun, Google Drive, Ace Net, Epicor, and HCM software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, calculate financial figures, and solve problems using reasoning and data analysis.
  • Physical ability to walk, lift 40–50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform other job‑related activities.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control, and loss prevention.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, develop associates, and maintain high customer service standards.

Compensation

$52,000 – $70,000 annually
