General Manager

Description

Responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the store, driving sales, ensuring top customer service and merchandising, managing expenses, and leading a team of associates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive store sales by implementing the Ace Helpful 101 S.A.L.E.S. process and fostering a B2B strategy with Great Lakes Ace Hardware.
• Control operating costs and analyze business trends to achieve sale and profitability goals.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and accurate, timely paperwork.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through daily receiving, opportunity communication, and product flow.
• Lead loss‑prevention initiatives, detect and report discrepancies.
• Manage merchandising: stock levels, product presentation, and assortment per corporate guidelines.
• Hire, train, develop, and evaluate associates; provide performance feedback and recognition.
• Communicate company initiatives through quarterly store meetings, daily huddles, and professional written communication.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable store and operating environment.
• Maintain consistent attendance and coverage on a rotating schedule that includes weekends.
• Supervise up to 20 associates, overseeing HR functions per policy.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of relevant management experience (or equivalent education and experience).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and interpreting business, technical, and regulatory documents.
• Mathematical ability: compute percentages, discounts, and basic arithmetic.
• Reasoning ability to define problems, analyze data, and draw conclusions.
• Physical capacity to walk, climb ladders, stand, kneel, sit, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Compensation

Annual salary range: $52,000 – $70,000.
