Maintenance Mechanics ensure our campus building systems operate properly by performing maintenance and repairs on heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, plumbing, kitchen and other mechanical/electrical systems, equipment and components.

Duties and Responsibilities Monitor, inspect, and maintain mechanical systems, equipment and controls to assure optimum efficiency and performance. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on various systems, components and equipment. Provide startup, shutdown and operational service, calibration, and operational logs, for heating and cooling equipment and associated components. Inspect, test and record results of emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, emergency lighting, exit lighting, smoke alarms andvarious life/safety systems. Perform minor plumbing & electrical repairs when directed. Keep equipment, tools and mechanical areas clean and orderly. Maintain detailed records on paper and in maintenance management software. Work a scheduled rotation with other mechanics to cover occasional alternative shifts, weekends, and Holidays. Respond to emergency requests regarding HVAC and life/safety systems. Adhere to all safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out procedures, MSDS safety warnings, required personal protection equipment, and OSHA requirements. Advise supervisor of any unsafe work conditions or situations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High school diploma or GED Three years professional experience in relevant building or mechanical/equipment maintenance Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record Abilities:

Work at heights using ladders and aerial work platforms such as boom lifts (60' max) scissor lifts, and telescoping lifts Pass a standard half face mask respirator Fit-Test, and work for extended periods in the associated environment/working conditions for internal fan plenum and coil cleaning Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn computerized tasks quickly and effectively Knowledge:

repair, maintenance, and operational principles of relevant building systems and components control systems' strategies and layouts relevant federal, state and local codes and regulations relevant occupational hazards and safety precautions and procedures written work orders, checklists, manuals, specifications, material safety data sheets, diagrams, sketches, floor plans, and controls sequences of operations

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Participation in technical training courses involving HVAC is desirable.
