Overview Join our team as a Mainframe System Programmer and Hardware Configuration Specialist, where you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our mainframe systems. This is a remote position based in the United States. Your Role As the Solution Delivery Architect, you will be key in configuring mainframe hardware components such as HCD and IOCP. You will lead the configuration of client environments in Ensono data centers during migrations, ensuring they mirror existing setups. You will also serve as the main point of escalation for hardware issues, manage device configurations, and support ongoing mainframe operations. Key Responsibilities Define and connect mainframe equipment to Mainframe CPU. Support mainframe hardware functionality, handle break/fix scenarios, and implement upgrades. Evaluate client systems prior to their migration to Ensono data centers. Asses proposed solutions for their supportability. Collaborate with networking teams to identify necessary IPs and ports for mainframe devices and LPARs. Work with data center hardware teams on grid location and power requirements for hardware installations. Document all hardware and LPAR cabling with relevant IPs. What You Will Need At least 3 years of experience in a z/OS environment with tape, DASD, CPU, and other mainframe hardware. Hands-on experience creating HCD and IOCP for zOS, zVM, and zVSE in geographically dispersed data center environments. Proven ability to manage multiple hardware upgrades and migrations. Familiarity with Z Series HMC and support elements at a career level. Self-sufficient in contributing to new hardware migrations and upgrades. Average understanding of network connectivity for mainframe and subsystems. Strong communication skills to interact with account management and project management teams. Experience with vendor interactions and collaboration with remote data center teams. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and resolution skills. Proficiency in ITSM processes and familiarity with Excel, Visio, and MS Project. Ability to assess architectural supportability before client presentation. Solid knowledge of z/OS operating systems. Understanding of tape and DASD replication methodologies. Experience building and maintaining mainframe disaster recovery configurations. Involvement in disaster recovery exercises. Knowledge of data encryption technologies on mainframes. Familiarity with terminal emulators like Putty. Ability to mentor junior team members. Understanding of networking including IPs, ports, and firewalls for environment access. Knowledge of mainframe hardware/LPARs and cabling requirements. Experience with z/VM or z/Linux is a plus. Flexible work schedule. The salary range for this position is approximately $90,000 to $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
