Florida A&M University's Division of Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) in the School of Allied Health Sciences (SOAHS) invites qualified individuals to apply for the Assistant Professor position.
Responsibilities
Teach health informatics and information management courses, covering foundational and advanced management practices, medical coding, quality improvement, legal aspects, privacy and security regulations, healthcare reimbursement, statistics, research, pathophysiology, and professional practice experience work.
Develop and revise instructional materials, including syllabi, course plans, objectives, and evaluation tools, integrating advanced technology such as AI, audiovisual, and computerized/internet aids.
Assist with clinical coordination of professional practice experience placements, contract processing, and monitoring.
Engage in service activities within the division, school, university, and community; conduct scholarly research and provide academic advising.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Informatics and Information Management.
Certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) with current credentials.
Doctorate Degree in a health‑related discipline.
Minimum of three years’ experience as a health information management practitioner.
Minimum of three years of academic teaching experience in an accredited institution within a CAHIIM‑accredited program.
Recommended Competencies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software.
Experience with computer‑based learning platforms such as Blackboard and Canvas.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pay Plan This is a faculty position.
