Who We’re Looking For:
Under the supervision of a Technical Unit Supervisor, this position is part of a team that has overall responsibility for the computer and network infrastructure that supports the operations, which includes over 6,000 computing devices. Specifically, the Field Service Technician — Contractor will service customers throughout the state and will be based in Madison, Wisconsin. This position has five main areas of responsibility:
Responsibilities
Provide maintenance and support for software and hardware.
Install, configure and troubleshoot computer hardware and software in county courthouses and court system offices throughout Wisconsin.
Provide technical customer support to all court system employees and take corrective action.
Perform field service to upgrade hardware or troubleshoot and resolve technology issues.
Respond effectively and efficiently to unplanned events such as system failures or natural disasters involving production systems.
Qualifications
Experience in an enterprise IT environment
Experience installing, configuring, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware
Knowledge of computer networking principles
Knowledge of digital audio recording equipment
Experience or training in supporting audio/visual technologies including video conferencing tools. Supporting Windows Servers, supporting Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Services), supporting Active Directory and Group Policy, supporting Local Area Networks
Experience providing phone-based technical support
Interview Process Remote interview via Teams
Duration of the Contract 6/30/2026 with potential for extension
Location & Travel Requirements Candidates must be CURRENT WI residents. No relocation allowed. The selected candidate will be working 100% onsite in Madison or traveling to sites throughout the state. Must be able to travel throughout the State of Wisconsin with overnights. Must have own vehicle and hold a valid driver's license. Mileage will be reimbursed at $0.51/mile from their normal place of work to the off‑site location and return trip. Approximately 25‑50% of this position's responsibilities will be to travel in southeast Wisconsin and replace/repair equipment. The selected hire will be required to use their own vehicle and that vehicle needs to be big enough to carry computer hardware such as printers, scanners and monitors.
