General Statement of Duties The Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) invites college students to participate in its Spring 2025 Co‑Op Program. Co‑ops will work on projects related to wastewater engineering, modeling, monitoring, and optimization, under the supervision of MSD staff and project managers.

Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)

U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or otherwise eligible to work in the United States.

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.

Active in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Information Technology, or related STEM program.

Valid work permit for students under eighteen.

Pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Assist Compliance Services engineers with data analysis of flow and level data from over 800 MSD sensors.

Process field‑work records and import historical data into MSD’s data management systems.

Apply engineering principles to practical projects and collaborate with cross‑functional staff.

Use workflow tools to define project timelines and deliverables.

Prepare documentation and report findings to stakeholders.

Education Requirements

Current enrollment in a STEM degree program, preferably related to civil, environmental, or information technology engineering.

Required Education and Experience

U.S. citizenship or lawful eligibility to work in the U.S.; work permit required for students under eighteen.

Enrollment in an accredited institution and completion of a standard application at MSD.

Background and drug screening clearance.
