About The Team And Role As a Full Stack Engineer on the Core Scribd team, you’ll contribute to building and maintaining both the frontend and backend systems powering Scribd’s document reading page. You’ll work on full‑stack features that help users on a research journey find and parse the right document. This is a unique opportunity to work across a wide surface area from React‑based UI to distributed backend services in collaboration with product, design, AI/ML and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Design and PM on new frontend features using React/Next.js, GraphQL, Typescript, and Ruby on Rails
Contribute to a shared design system
Make contributions to improving our frontend infrastructure
Maintain and improve our Backend in‑document search service and spin up new services as needed in Python
Collaborate with our Data/ML and Content Pipeline teams to build new features and make improvements to our document ingestion infrastructure
Requirements
Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.
3‑5 years of experience working across the stack, especially React, Next.js & Ruby on Rails.
Experience with database technologies (SQL, Postgres and MySQL)
Understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with performance, accessibility, and SEO principles across the stack.
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with design, product, and other engineering teams.
A thoughtful approach to code quality, maintainability, and documentation.
Bonus points
Occasional work with Node and Go services
Compensation and Benefits Base pay is part of your total compensation and is based on local cost of labor benchmarks for each location. Pay ranges: (for example, $119,000 – $185,500 in San Francisco, CA; $98,000 – $176,500 in other U.S. markets; $124,500 CAD – $165,000 CAD in Canada). The role is also eligible for competitive equity ownership and a generous benefits package.
