About The Team and Role As a Full Stack Engineer on the Core Scribd team, you’ll work on building and maintaining both the frontend and backend systems that power Scribd’s document reading page. You'll build full‑stack features that help users research, find, and parse documents, collaborating with product, design, AI/ML, and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities

Work closely with Design and PM on new frontend features using React/Next.js, GraphQL, TypeScript, and Ruby on Rails.

Contribute to a shared design system.

Improve our frontend infrastructure.

Maintain and expand the backend in‑document search service and develop new services in Python.

Collaborate with Data/ML and Content Pipeline teams to build features and enhance document ingestion infrastructure.

Requirements

Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.

3–5 years of experience across the stack, including React, Next.js, and Ruby on Rails.

Experience with SQL, Postgres, and MySQL.

Understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.

Familiarity with performance, accessibility, and SEO principles across the stack.

Strong collaboration skills with design, product, and engineering teams.

Thoughtful approach to code quality, maintainability, and documentation.

Optional Skills

Employees must have their primary residence in or near one of the following cities:

United States: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Houston, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington D.C.

Canada: Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver.

Mexico: Mexico City.

Salary range

San Francisco: $119,000–$185,500.

Other U.S. markets: $98,000–$176,500.

Canada: $124,500 CAD–$165,000 CAD.
