General Purpose The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows best‑practice standards, keeps a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may also perform additional tasks as needed to support customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
Practice safe behaviors and keep safety as the number one priority.
Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment.
Treat all customers and associates with respect, courtesy and professionalism.
Assist customers in any way necessary – register trained, assist with merchandise and answer questions politely.
Provide prompt and efficient customer responses and handle customer issues courteously.
Represent and support the company brand at all times.
Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company’s dress code.
Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice.
Expedite new merchandise receipts and merchandize all items per company best practice.
Understand loss prevention awareness programs and merchandise protection standards.
Demonstrate integrity and honesty, safeguard confidential information, cash and merchandise.
Follow all mark‑out‑of‑stock policies and cash handling procedures.
Demonstrate a sense of urgency and execute best practices efficiently.

Qualifications and Special Skills
Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
Use all store equipment such as PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking and moving around the store.
Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop.
Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
Associates working stockroom shifts may be required to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Benefits & Compensation The base pay range for this role is
$17.95 – $18.45
per hour. Compensation varies based on experience, qualifications and location. Ross offers an inclusive work environment with continuous learning opportunities and development for our teams.
