Overview
Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology (Bioinformatics) – CHLA. The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, Division of Genomic Medicine and Center for Personalized Medicine (CPM), seek an outstanding candidate with expertise in bioinformatics, data science and genomics as a full-time faculty member with clinical, research (clinical and translational), and teaching responsibilities at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with training and demonstrated accomplishments in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Genomics, or related fields. They will have in-depth knowledge of genomics and be familiar with cutting-edge methodologies and technologies applied for clinical care and discovery. Experience in developing and applying algorithms, analytic pipelines, software and AI/ML tools for whole-genome, whole-exome, panel sequencing, genotyping, RNA-Seq data, and liquid biopsy for clinical or research purposes is strongly desired. Computational expertise includes designing and developing web- and cloud-based bioinformatics NGS data analysis solutions, programming skills (Java, R, Perl, Python, etc.), knowledge of database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB) and big data analytics. The successful candidate will join an experienced multi-disciplinary team at CPM and will contribute as the Assistant Director of Bioinformatics by developing, implementing and maintaining data infrastructure, software, analytic tools and pipelines enabling innovative genomic testing to support clinical care and discovery at CHLA. Develop, implement and maintain data infrastructure, software, analytics tools and pipelines for genomic testing and precision medicine. Lead bioinformatics projects, collaborate with physicians, laboratorians, genetic counselors and scientists, and contribute to clinical care, research and education. Qualifications
Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Genomics or related field. Experience in genomic data analysis (NGS, RNA-Seq, liquid biopsy) for clinical or research purposes. Proficiency in programming (e.g., Java, R, Perl, Python) and experience with database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB).
