Job Responsibilities St. John Fisher University seeks nominations and applications for a quantitative economist to fill a tenure track position in economics at the level of assistant professor. The successful candidates will contribute to undergraduate courses in both economics and data analytics. The ideal candidate will have exceptional teaching skills and a commitment to student learning and success, as well as a scholarly research agenda. Teaching duties may include some combination of Principles courses, classes in statistics or data analytics, and general college core classes. Familiarity with coding in R and Python and an interest in machine learning is a plus. The opportunity to teach field courses in econ or data analytics will develop according to the candidate’s areas of specialty. The teaching load is three courses per semester and will be in person. Commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service is required for eventual promotion and tenure. The requirement for the position is a Ph.D. in economics or closely related field, though candidates who are ABD will be considered. The position will begin in August 2026.

Education / Experience Ph.D. in Economics or related field. ABD will be considered with evidence of imminent completion.

Excellent communication and teaching skills; proficiency with statistical tools and applications; proficiency with technology for teaching and research; collegiality and willingness to collaborate.

Work Hours 9-month teaching obligation; Work responsibilities will be largely during the daytime M-F, but occasionally availability on weekends for events or for an evening class will be required.
