IT System Administration - Journey Full Time | Permanent

Location: Stafford Creek Corrections Center | Aberdeen, WA

Salary Range: $88,332 - $118,800 Annually

The goal of this position is to supports DOC’s strategic goals and objectives by providing customer service delivery across multiple divisions within DOC, and identifying,

designing and implementing improvements in processes.

The IT System Administration – Journey must be able to pivot on a dime as you will work with multiple diverse networks including the Incarcerated Individual Services Network, Off State Network (OSNC/OSNE/OSNL/OSNS), Health Services Network (HSN), and Security Electronics Network (SEN).

The candidate of choice will provide skills and technical knowledge to complete complex tasks, such as performing project tasks and large work efforts within major facilities and field sites between DOC staff, incarcerated individuals and vendors. As an IT System Administration - Journey, some of your duties will include:

Providing technical professional level support for Information Technology (IT) Systems (servers, building automation systems, Private Branch Exchange (PBX) and networks for both staff and incarcerated individuals which could look like:

Making recommendations on strategic direction of customer services, by adapting to changing technologies and learning functionality of new equipment and systems.

Managing and administrating over the PBX phone and AAMS (Avaya Aura Messaging Systems).

Managing the deployment, management and maintenance of highly complex technology systems

Managing server availability, functionality, and efficiency, by auditing, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving server errors; including but not limited to connectivity, hardware and software. Installs server fixes, updates, and enhancements

Developing and planning the configuration of server backup systems, managing storage, retention of backup media, verification of data recovery and system recovery procedures

Providing technical professional level customer support to staff, vendors and incarcerated individuals for IT Systems, equipment, and phones to include:

Ensuring the functionality of daily IT operations, identifying and solving operational problems on large-scale and high-risk systems

Managing the quality, accountability, productivity, and timely delivery of technology services

Ensuring security protocols are followed per DOC Policies. Collaborates with IT Security to determine actions for system breaches, which may include malware, virus or staff/incarcerated individual violation

Making recommendations and decisions on strategic direction of customer services, by adapting to changing technologies and learning functionality of new equipment and systems

Providing full participation and constructive feedback for all local, regional, and statewide IT projects

Adapting to changing business needs or decisions to achieve successful solutions and results within the scope of the project

Ensuring functionality, connectivity and availability of local area switches, data/phone connections and infrastructure

Deploying and providing technical support for telephones, mobile phones, and other mobile connectivity hardware

Serving as an IT liaison with business resolving operational issues and disseminate information

What we need (required qualifications):

High school diploma or equivalent

AND

Four (4) years of IT related training and experience

AND

Four (4) years of Information Technology experience in an enterprise environment

or

Two (2) years in an IT System Administration – Entry within the last 6 years

or

Two (2) years in an IT Customer Support - Journey position within the last 6 years

OR

Associate’s degree in computer science or related field

AND

Two (2) years of IT related training and experience

AND

Four (4) years of Information Technology experience in an enterprise environment

or

Two (2) years in an IT System Administration – Entry within the last 6 years

or

Two (2) years in an IT Customer Support - Journey position within the last 6 years

OR

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or a foreign equivalent

AND

Four (4) years of Information Technology experience in an enterprise environment

or

Two (2) years in an IT System Administration – Entry within the last 6 years

or

Two (2) years in an IT Customer Support - Journey position within the last 6 years

In addition to the above qualifications, the below knowledge, skills and abilities are required:

4 years of experience repairing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting Network Operating Systems, software, and hardware on physical and virtual servers

4 years of experience using server diagnostic tools in the repair of server hardware and software

4 years of experience in installing, testing, and configuring Microsoft Windows workstations

4 years of experience creating and modifying Active Directory groups for administrative access to network shares and printer queues

Must have a valid license to drive in Washington State and have ability to drive vehicles ranging from passenger sedans, station wagons, pickups and cargo vans (up to 1-ton)

Certified CompTIA A+

2 years of experience repairing and diagnosing telephony technology (e.g., PBX, VOIP)

2 years of experience repairing and diagnosing mobile technology (e.g., smart phones, air cards, hot spot, GPS)

2 years of experience using an IT Service Management system

2 years of experience repairing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting electronic devices (e.g., access control devices, digital cameras, hard drives, memory cards, modems, network components, printers, removable storage devices, scanners, biometrics, global positioning systems (GPS)

2 years of experience repairing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting network protocols and connectivity issues (e.g., Transmission Critical Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Virtual Private Networking (VPN)

1 year of experience repairing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting physical computer components. (e.g., central processing units (CPU), network interface cards (NIC) and data storage)

1 year of experience integrating and administrating Security Electronics systems in an enterprise IT environment

Telework Details This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
