AWS is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network.
Key job responsibilities
Managing work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
Collaborating with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles
Troubleshooting networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment
Participating in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
A day in the life
Providing the first level networking devices to serve our customer racks entails various tasks: track network rack intake and delivery; work with onsite teams to request rack space, power, and cooling for network racks; partner with network engineers to ensure configurations are ready; and troubleshoot link and device issues within SLA.
There are also console builds (and room builds) that are really exciting; you will be exposed to teams focused on providing more space and capacity for customer racks.
Work with ID-Scaling peers to build higher-level networking devices.
All Physical Requirements Are Expected With Reasonable Accommodations
Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
Working in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments
Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
Basic Qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma
1+ years of technical support experience, or experience in technical work related to computer systems and technology components
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with network hardware: copper and optical fiber cabling, switches, routers
Knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, technologies and architectures, IT service delivery principles and best practices
Data center experience; industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+)
Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters
Knowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF)
