Senior System Administrator (MSP Projects)
We are a growing Managed and Cloud Services Provider supporting clients across North America in the legal, healthcare, and manufacturing industries. Our team delivers proactive IT solutions that strengthen cybersecurity, improve cloud efficiency, and modernize on-prem environments. As we continue to expand, we’re seeking a Project Engineer who thrives in independent, client‑facing roles and enjoys seeing projects through from design to delivery.
This position is perfect for a seasoned MSP professional who enjoys leading technical initiatives, collaborating with clients, and working with cutting‑edge Microsoft technologies. You’ll work from home most days, with occasional visits to our Elgin office and client sites in the Chicagoland area.
Base Pay Range $115,000 – $130,000 per year
What You Will Do
Lead and deliver technical projects including Azure migrations, server builds, and Microsoft 365 deployments
Scope project requirements, develop implementation plans, and manage deliverables using Autotask
Configure and support virtualized environments using VMware and Hyper‑V
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 tenant configurations
Build and deploy secure network hardware (firewalls, switches, wireless) and assist with client onboarding
Provide clear, consistent communication to clients and internal teams throughout project lifecycles
Document all work in the PSA tool and maintain best practices for process consistency
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvement initiatives
What You Bring
At least 1 year of MSP experience
Proven history of independently deploying Microsoft Azure cloud services including Entra ID migrations, tenant‑to‑tenant moves, and Teams deployments
Microsoft Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), VMware, and Hyper‑V experience
Strong understanding of data backup, recovery, and storage solutions (Datto, Acronis, Synology, etc.)
Hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, Exchange, and SharePoint migrations
Familiarity with networking concepts, Layer 2/3 switching, and firewall management (Meraki, Sophos, or SonicWall)
Active or in‑progress Azure Administrator certification (AZ‑104 preferred)
Excellent client communication and documentation skills with a professional, consultative approach
