Employment Type: Full time – 35 hours per week Duration: 18‑month Fixed Term Contract (possibility for extension) Remuneration: Level B from $127,947, Level C from $155,403 + 17% superannuation and annual leave loading Location: Kensington Campus, Sydney, New South Wales (hybrid flexible working opportunities available)

About The Role We are seeking a dynamic legal practitioner or former practitioner with a strong commitment to shaping the next generation of lawyers for admission. This position focuses on preparing graduates for professional life by connecting legal education directly to current practice, supporting students’ development of practical skills, professional judgement and ethical awareness, and integrating work‑integrated learning (WIL), AI‑enhanced practice tools, and practitioner‑led mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver and coordinate Professional Legal Training (PLT) core and elective courses for the general cohort and UNSW’s sponsored partnership model with top‑tier law firms.

Collaborate with practitioner mentors and industry partners to support students’ development.

Integrate work‑integrated learning, AI‑enhanced tools, and practitioner‑led mentoring into the PLT program.

Support the development and improvement of practice education.

Engage confidently with students, practitioners and professional bodies.

Mentor or supervise junior practitioners or law graduates, advocating for student well‑being and successful transition into the profession.

Support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications & Experience

Tertiary qualifications in law and admission as a legal practitioner in Australia.

3‑5 years post‑admission experience in legal practice.

Evidence of teaching/practice experience in two or more disciplines such as litigation, commercial and property practice, administrative law, family law, banking and finance, consumer law, employment law or criminal law.

Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development.

Experience using practice technologies and online delivery methods.

Highly developed organisational skills and ability to deliver in a fast‑paced environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated experience in mentoring or supervising junior practitioners or law graduates and commitment to student well‑being.

Evidence of supporting students from diverse backgrounds; support for equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

For Level C – demonstrated success in initiating practice education development and improvement; professional development of teaching practice; ability to attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives; commitment to UNSW's values; knowledge of health & safety responsibilities.
