Electrical Controls Engineer / Technician Summit Skilled Solutions is urgently hiring an
Electrical Controls Engineer/Technician
to join our dynamic team at our Lynchburg facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical systems and proficiency in various engineering software tools. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for a range of applications, ensuring projects meet technical specifications and deadlines.
Job Responsibilities Design & Implementation of Control Systems
Design control panels using AutoCAD software.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs for equipment operation control.
Program control sequencing and speed modulation for three-phase motors.
Coordinate with vendors to manage interfaces and equipment needs.
Support the construction of control panels to ensure compliance with design specifications.
Customer Support & Training
Provide on-site and remote customer support as required.
Conduct training sessions for clients on control systems and equipment.
Travel & Overtime
Travel 25-40% of the time for installation, troubleshooting, or training purposes.
Parts Management
Identify and procure parts for system installations and repairs.
Additional Duties
Perform tasks assigned by the General Manager or Electrical Engineering Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
Post-high school electrical schooling with focus on low voltage DC and AC circuits.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Understanding of electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.
Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and HMI programming.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-initiative and desire for continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering (BS or AAS) with emphasis on Industrial Control Systems.
Programming experience in computer languages is a plus.
Expertise in PLC and HMI programming, particularly with Rockwell Automation products (Siemens experience also valued).
Knowledge of electrical standards such as UL508 and NFPA79.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay range $35-$45/hr based on experience.
