Medical Services Coordinator – Columbia, MD (On‑site)
Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM‑4:30 PM or 9:00 AM‑5:30 PM
Pay Range: $20.00‑$22.00/hour (based on experience)
Contract‑to‑Hire | 6‑Month Duration
Position Overview TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Medical Services Coordinator to provide administrative and staff support within a busy medical office environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in healthcare administration, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative support for departmental projects, programs, and processes.
Answer and direct phone calls professionally; take accurate messages and handle inquiries.
Compose and proofread correspondence, memos, and reports while maintaining confidentiality.
Manage requests for information, send routine communications, and follow up on outstanding issues.
Prepare materials and forms for departmental use; maintain and update filing systems.
Schedule meetings, maintain calendars, and coordinate logistics for appointments.
Maintain and update databases and online records; process invoices and track payments.
Manage physician credentials, certifications, and hospital appointment applications.
Coordinate monthly on‑call schedules and track vacation/time‑off accruals.
Handle patient chart requests and process medical transcription and documentation.
Complete disability forms and schedule post‑operative follow‑ups as needed.
Understand and apply medical terminology and procedure codes for scheduling and documentation.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of office administration experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EMR systems.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Epic and insurance verification.
Familiarity with medical terminology and coding.
Work Environment & Benefits On‑site role in a medical office located in Columbia, MD 21044. The position is Contract‑to‑Hire and offers the opportunity for permanent placement with competitive benefits upon conversion.
