VOAC supports veteran’s efforts to exit homelessness as well as provides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence. Wherever VOAC goes, it combines relationship-building, volunteers and quality services to lift and support our neighbor’s efforts to become self-sufficient and reach their full potential. The Kitchen Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of participants at the Lakewood Navigation Center by ensuring the consistent delivery of nutritious meals. This position is responsible for preparing, heating, and serving lunch and dinner meals provided by the Volunteers of America Aging and Nutrition Services (ANS) kitchen. These meals are a key component of our holistic care approach, helping to nourish individuals and promote overall wellness.

All duties must be carried out in alignment with the guidelines provided, as well as the standards and procedures established by Volunteers of America and the Health Department. Attention to food safety, quality, and respectful service is essential to maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment for those we serve. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare and heat precooked meals from the ANS kitchen to proper serving temperatures. Plate and serve high-quality lunch and dinner meals for a high volume of participants, ensuring appealing presentation and satisfaction. Portion meals accurately based on program needs, minimizing waste and adhering to Colorado Food Program guidelines. Serve meals respectfully using a Trauma-Informed Approach, ensuring participants feel valued and heard. Encourage participant feedback when appropriate to improve meal service. Requisition of food and supplies using VOA menu plans to support efficient kitchen operations. Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment, following all health and safety protocols. Ensure food safety through proper temperature control and storage of unused items. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and appropriately. Prepare meals for special events as directed by the Food Service Project Manager. Track and record meals served in the designated system. Order food and kitchen supplies weekly from the VOA kitchen. Attend required meetings and agency training. Support and train kitchen staff, temporary workers, and volunteers as assigned. Uphold the Social Work Code of Ethics in all responsibilities. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance. Perform additional duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities

One-year related experience in cooking or similar production facilities. Ability to read and write to follow menu. Ability to follow basic kitchen mathematical calculations. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds multiple times during a shift. Stand for 8-hour shift, and visually, auditorily monitor milieu dining. ServSafe certified or ability to acquire certification within 3 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications

One-year high volume institutional food service experience. Knowledge and Skills

Clearly and respectfully communicates with all stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Solid time management and organizational skills.
