Manage Assistant Golf Professionals, Golf Shop Associates and Starter. Assist the Director of Golf with all aspects of the golf operation including the golf shop, the golf staff, golf instruction and tournament operations. Work closely with the golf staff to provide the highest standards of excellence for member and guest enjoyment.

Essential Functions

Responsible for and discretion in the management of the Assistant Golf Professionals, Golf Shop Associates and Starter, including providing recommendations as to the hiring, firing, promotion, and evaluation of individual employees.

Oversee golf functions and events.

Coordinate all activities of the golf operations with the Director of Golf.

To enforce all club rules and regulations governing the use of the golf course, golf carts, and other golf facilities.

Provide golf instructions (organize group and individual instruction).

To run and help organize the tournaments for the men, women, and mixed (Scorecards, Rules Sheets, Scoresheets, Advertising).

Working directly with LGA & 9-LGA golf associations and committees.

Provide an environment/program for assistants to learn, grow and move on to further successes.

Full departmental authority for all practices and procedures during Director of Golf's absence.

Supervise and provide counseling or coaching to staff in conjunction with Human Resources as required.

Complete annual reviews and required documentation for staff as required.

Assist the Director of Golf with all aspects of the golf operation including the golf shop, the golf staff, golf instruction and tournament operations.

Work closely with the golf staff to provide the highest standards of excellence for member and guest enjoyment.

Assist and train the counter staff to ensure proper check-in, opening and closing procedures, fee collection and customer service levels are met.

Create and manage the daily play register using the ForeTees.

Assist with the ordering, receiving, pricing, display and sales.

Assist with the coordination of tournaments and special events.

Assist with group lessons and junior golf programs.

Manage the USGA handicap system, GHIN, for accurate and timely data.

Oversee the inventory levels of golf shop supplies.

Assist members and guests with the interpretation of the golf rules, regulations and policies.

Execute fundamental club repair services.

Assist the Director of Golf with annual inventory reporting.

Perform starter or player assistant duties as needed.

Promote goodwill and exceptional service to members and guests.

Promote teamwork, professionalism and camaraderie towards all employees.

Participate in golf games with members of all skill levels.

Play in PGA Chapter and Sectional Tournaments.

Recommends and provides significant input regarding all staff on hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, and other employment changes needed.

Stays abreast of all HR policies and ensures new information and policies are communicated at all levels.

Ensures that the department is operated in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.

Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Fundamental knowledge of all facets of the game of golf, including golf operations, golf rules and regulations, golf instruction, tournament management and customer service.

Possess and maintain a credible golf game by time spent practicing and playing.

Education and experience

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Must have a minimum of five years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional at a recognized golf club.

Must maintain a membership in good standing with the PGA of America and/or LPGA T&CP.

Currently enrolled in the PGA PGM program of Level 2 or higher.

Proficient in Microsoft Office: Publisher, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Canva

Knowledge of the Ghin, TPP , Jonas, ForeTees and Flight Scope programs and applications.
