Senior Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Summary As a Senior Electro‑Mechanical Design Engineer, you will act as the Chief Engineer for assigned electrical‑mechanical components and lead technical and product excellence at all levels. You will be responsible for leading the full life‑cycle development of electronic and mechanical hardware systems, ensuring designs meet strict performance, thermal, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Drive technical excellence and product ownership for electrical‑mechanical components.
Design Ownership: Lead complete life‑cycle development of electronics, including specifications, architecture block diagrams, supplier nomination, and technical assessment of supplier solutions.
Risk & Safety Analysis: Lead design reviews (PDRs, CDRs) and perform DFMEA, functional safety analysis, and PFMEAs.
Validation & Testing: Work with internal teams and suppliers to maintain component and system‑level DVPRs and ensure test execution.
Simulation & Packaging (Mechanical Focus): Perform CAE analysis for thermal and vibration durability simulations. Define packaging space requirements and design enclosures that meet strict thermal, environmental, and EMC requirements.
Supply Chain & Quality: Manage electronic component supply‑chain lifecycle, scrub BOM compliance to AEC‑Q and temperature grade, and collaborate with Supplier Quality to ensure on‑time delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Understanding of electronics, packaging, and software.
Knowledge of supplier processes, manufacturing, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in vehicle level component programs.
Experience with power management design for complex ECUs.
Experience with the ISO 26262 development process.
Experience with functional safety design in automotive, industrial, or aerospace contexts.
Use of deductive and inductive failure analysis tools including FTA and FMEDA supporting hardware architectural design.
Experience designing for thermal, vibration, and EMC.
Pay Range $146,900 – $183,600 per year
Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California based applicants: $146,900 – $183,600 USD. (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
