About the Team and Role As a Full Stack Engineer on core Scribd, you will build and maintain both frontend and backend systems powering the document reading page. You will work across a wide surface area from React‑based UI to distributed backend services in collaboration with product, design, AI/ML, and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Design and PM on new frontend features using React/Next.js, GraphQL, Typescript, and Ruby on Rails.
Contribute to a shared design system and improve frontend infrastructure.
Maintain and improve the backend in‑document search service and spin up new services as needed in Python.
Collaborate with Data/ML and Content Pipeline teams to build new features and improve our document ingestion infrastructure.
Requirements
Strong understanding of modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.
3‑5 years of experience working across the stack, especially React, Next.js, and Ruby on Rails.
Experience with database technologies (SQL, Postgres, and MySQL).
Understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with performance, accessibility, and SEO principles across the stack.
Strong collaboration skills and a thoughtful approach to code quality, maintainability, and documentation.
Bonus Points
Experience with Node and Go services.
Compensation Base pay ranges from $119,000 to $185,500 in San Francisco, $98,000 to $176,500 outside California, and $124,500 to $165,000 CAD in Canada. In addition, this role is eligible for competitive equity ownership and a comprehensive benefits package.
Location Eligibility Primary residence in or near one of the following U.S. cities: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Houston, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington D.C.
Primary residence in Canada: Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver.
